tinkl is a bathroom-finder app for trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming folks to find safe and accessible restrooms that they can use without fear of being harassed. It was created by Prime Alum Essie (They/Them). Currently, it is only based in the Twin Cities area, but they are looking to expand in the future and would like to optimize the app to support future growth. Users can comment, add bathrooms, and add accessibility context.

context
Each story shared brings attention to the ongoing distress and discrimination that often accompany such experiences. Creating accessible, non-judgmental restroom options isn’t just a small act of inclusion; it’s a fundamental step toward building an environment that respects everyone’s right to exist comfortably and authentically in public spaces.
The tinkl admin team’s dock needs to allow them to validate and user access data, user comments, and the restroom directory. Since they expect to expand in the future, they need to be able to be able to complete their duties without major pain points. This will allow them to properly minimize harmful content from being uploaded to the site and allow their users to pee in peace.
main content
Tinkl is currently in the process of developing its app and is seeking assistance in improving the overall experience for both users and admins. I collaborated with two other UX Designers to assess Tinkl 1.0’s admin page and identify opportunities for improvement, focusing on its admin dock.
Together, as a trio of UX Designers, we conducted in-depth research to understand the user and admin needs, uncovering pain points and identifying opportunities for refinement. Based on our findings, we each interpreted Tinkl's admin page and provided individual design solutions. We also supported each other throughout the process, exchanging insights and iterating on our designs collaboratively.
Our goal was to make the admin dock intuitive, efficient, and aligned with the broader objectives of Tinkl’s user experience strategy, ultimately contributing to a smoother admin workflow while maintaining Tinkl's identity and vision for the app.

Tinkl, a growing tech company, sought to elevate both the usability of its internal admin page and its overall brand identity. As a UX designer, my task was twofold: streamline the admin page for better efficiency and consistency while also ensuring Tinkl’s brand identity and aesthetics were aligned across the platform.
This project aimed to integrate functionality with a refined visual language that would not only improve internal processes but also solidify Tinkl’s brand presence. Essie and their team are building the app from the ground up and because of this, the features that they need aren’t flushed out because they are spreading their efforts across many avenues.

interation and evalution
The Tinkl 1.0 admin dock initially lacked sufficient information and a clear presence of the brand identity, which presented an exciting opportunity for me to help infuse both into the user experience. As I worked on the prototype iterations, I closely examined the current admin dock along with Tinkl’s list of requests, paying attention to the functionality and design needs.
My focus was to integrate Tinkl’s brand identity more effectively while enhancing the user experience. To achieve this, I aimed to streamline the user information, improve visual hierarchy, and group similar functions into well-defined sections.
In order to maintain a cohesive brand presence, I carefully used design elements that would complement and not overpower Tinkl’s gradient background, which serves as a central aspect of their visual identity. The goal was to create an intuitive, aesthetically aligned admin dock that keeps the brand’s essence at the forefront.
final design
The final redesign of the BConnect dashboard introduced a streamlined interface centered around user needs. I prioritized simplifying the navigation structure to enable users to quickly access GR&R data. Additionally, I enhanced the visualizations for data trends, which improved clarity and decision-making. Overall, this redesign created a more cohesive data dashboard, allowing users to interpret data efficiently.
